The Great Get-Together – Erdington, 17th June 2017
Inspired by MP Jo Cox, killed on 16 June 2016, who believed
we are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us
– (Jo Cox, first speech to Parliament.)
The event of her death produced a groundswell of people who reject divisive politics and simply want to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us.
Therefore, come and join us for the Great Get Together on Saturday 17th June.
Between 12pm and 4pm in Central Square, Erdington Birmingham B23 6RY, enjoy some lively, family fun and indulge yourself with mouth-wateringly delicious multicultural barbeque prepared by local community groups and businesses.
There will be plenty to entertain you and the kids. Take part in a tug o’ war or table tennis tournament, or get some public feedback for your entry to the next “X factor” with our open mic slot between 12pm and 1pm.
There will be live music, a craft market and local community arts. The kids might be happy to get their faces painted or practice some chalk street art, with guidance from the artist.
Organised by the Polish Expats Association and Erdington Welcome Centre along with Erdington Arts Forum, Everyone Erdington, Erdington Central Square, The Cube Arts,Midland Greek and Cypriots Association, Near Neighbours, Six Ways Baptist Church and other community groups and organisations, the Great Get Together is a national event to bring people, neighbourhoods and communities closer together, to share food, culture and celebrate all that we hold in common, and above all, have fun.
